About NWHBIA

The Northwest Building and Home Inspector Association is dedicated to advancing the profession of home inspection across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska. We provide vital resources and advocacy to our members.

NWHBIA was founded to promote professionalism and protect the interests of home inspectors, ensuring high standards and quality service within the industry.

Our History

Nearly 40 years ago, the Northwest chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors was established—serving the surrounding states and British Columbia before inspector licensing even existed.

Shaping the Industry

Our chapter helped pioneer continuing education, hosted public outreach events, and played a key role in lobbying for sensible inspector licensing laws—leading to Washington’s adoption of licensing in 2009.

Our Evolution

In 2023, we became the Northwest Home & Building Inspectors Association, welcoming members from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska, and continuing our mission to advance professionalism and unity.

Looking Ahead

We continue to grow across the Northwest, strengthening inspector education, promoting high standards, and ensuring a unified voice for the profession, its future, and the communities we serve.
