REUBEN SALTZMAN
Reuben is a second-generation home inspector with a passion for his work. He grew up remodeling homes and learning about carpentry since he was old enough to hold a hammer. He worked for Structure Tech since it was purchased in 1997 and is now the owner and CEO of the company. Reuben always thought he’d be a teacher when he grew up because he loves sharing his knowledge with others. In a sense, that’s a lot of what home inspections are about, so he truly does what he loves. While Reuben no longer does home inspections, he teaches home inspector seminars all over the country. He helps to coach his daughter’s hockey team during the winter, plays disc golf in the summer, and does CrossFit year-round.

SANDRA HYDE, P.E.
Managing Director of Product Development for the International Code Council (ICC) where she develops books and seminars about the structural provisions of the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), International Existing Building Code (IEBC) and structural topics. Sandra has coauthored books and seminars on these topics including the Special Inspection Manual and the Significant Changes to the IRC and IBC. She has experience in manufacturing and research of engineered wood products with Weyerhaeuser.

Ms. Murry has a background in residential construction and building science that began in Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. As a construction crew leader for Habitat for Humanity, the need for creating energy-efficient, sustainable, and healthy homes inspired her to complete a degree in Residential Building Science from the University of Minnesota. Tessa worked as a Performance and Testing Department Supervisor at Cocoon for four years before pursuing a career in home inspections with Structure Tech in 2016. Tessa teaches continuing education classes to realtors, lectures at the University of Minnesota and has presented for the Duluth Energy Design Conference. She provides technical writing for Minnesota’s Building Performance Association and has been published in scientific papers through the Department of Energy’s Building America Program. She has been a member of ASHI since 2016.

Katie Neff is the President and founder of Silent Ninja Consulting, a family-owned business dedicated to helping entrepreneurs make informed financial decisions with clarity and confidence. Since launching in 2019, Katie has combined her lifelong passion for budgeting with years of professional experience in small business accounting to support business owners in understanding their numbers and using them strategically.
From bookkeeping and payroll to budgeting and forecasting, Katie empowers clients to transform financial data into actionable insights that fuel growth. She is passionate about making finance approachable and equipping small business owners with the tools they need to succeed.
Outside of her professional work, Katie enjoys camping, reading, and giving back to her community through volunteering as treasurer for her church. She also finds joy in music, singing regularly in her church choir.

Cory Vanderpool is the founder of Spark Certified Inc. and a 20-year veteran of the solar and energy efficiency industry. He has led companies in multiple states providing solar and energy sales and installations for thousands of homes and now focuses on helping professionals in the real estate industry understand and manage solar home transactions. He trains home inspectors, real estate agents, and appraisers to inspect, assess, buy and sell solar-powered homes. Cory is a licensed general contractor, a NABCEP Certified solar installer and the creator of Sprk, a software platform that helps professionals and homeowners simplify and document energy improvements for real estate transactions.

MARK PARLEE
MARK PARLEE
Mark Parlee is a Building Consultant with 48 years in the construction trades, having worked as a framing and siding carpenter, homebuilder, remodeler, and exterior renovator. Mark currently uses the expertise gathered over his life’s work as a consultant on construction defects and moisture intrusion, an expert witness, and a seminar presenter. He is EDI (Exterior Design Institute) Certified as an
EIFS, Stucco and Stone Inspector/Moisture Analyst/Quality Control and is also certified by EDI as a Building Envelope II, Steep Slope Roof Inspector and was one of the instructors of the first EDI Stone Veneer Inspection Certification Seminar. As a member of the Board of Directors for EDI, Mark is involved in updating curriculum and writing new curriculum to keep courses in step with the most current
technologies. He is a certified Level I Infrared Thermographer and Certified Residential Thermographer. Mark has been a guest lecturer for Architecture Forensics at lowa State University. Mark has also attained certification as a Building Envelope Investigator through BESI (Building Envelope Science Institute).

DEREK POMAVILLE

Derik Pomaville has been a home inspector since 1994. With a diverse background in insurance, executive management, and training and development, the home inspection industry was a perfect fit for his technical aptitude and communication skills. In 2003, he was offered the opportunity to teach a small part of a home inspection class and that’s when he rediscovered his passion for teaching. For more than 3 decades, and after performing thousands of inspections, Derik has sought to better his knowledge through education of the profession. Now a published author, instructor, and YouTube Creator, Derik has trained thousands of students, authored dozens of online and live courses, and presented continuing education training for InterNACHI on both their webinar platform and at their live conference. To better serve the industry, Derik served as a board member on the Washington State Home Inspector Advisory Board.

Ryan Jackson is a National Electrical Code® instructor and textbook author in the Salt Lake City, Utah, area. He is also a technical consultant for the Steel Tube Institute. He is a member of Code-Making Panels 3 and 17 for the National Electrical Code and serves on several Technical Committees for UL Solutions. He is certified as an inspector in the electrical, building, mechanical, and plumbing codes, and has taught the NEC® and NFPA 70E® at the national level over the last three decades.

With over 40 years of business experience dedicated to client care, professional services, customer service, business administration, and operations, James D. Krumm, owner and operator of Colorado’s Best Home Inspections LLC, is one of the most highly rated, respected, knowledgeable, and professional home inspectors in the country.
James has over 24 years as an electronic specialist, including experience, education, and training. He garners over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry. James boasts over 3,000 hours of extended or related continued education and writes industry-wide curricula regarding home inspection processes. James (Jim) is an Authorized InterNACHI Education Instructor and an industry-wide Speaker/Educator/Owner of IM – Inspector Mentoring and Training.

Russ Dimmitt

Russ Dimmitt has worked in the chimney industry for over 35 years His various roles in the industry have been in educational programming, product development, technical writing and public presentations. He was the recipient of the Don Leavitt Education Award in 2012.
Russ currently serves as the Director of Education for the Chimney Safety Institute of America. He maintains certifications from both the CSIA and the National Fireplace Institute. He is a long time member of the Standards and Technical Panels for UL including the 1777, 103 and 127 standards. He also is active with various industry-related trade groups and boards of directors.

Joe Andre
Joe is the technical consultant for the Steel Tube Institute, a principal member of CMP-5 and the NFPA 90A/90B committees and former member of CMP 1, as well as a 3-time member of the ICC Energy Code Committee. He spent 12 years as NEMA’s Western Field Rep. Prior to that, he served as Chief Electrical Inspector and Assistant Building Official for the City of Bellevue, Washington as well as an electrical inspector for Washington State. Joe holds a master electrician certification from Washington and has held many positions in the electrical industry, including electrical trainee instructor, and NEC instructor for NFPA. Joe is currently the Secretary and formerly the Education Chairman for the Northwestern Section of IAEI. He holds an Associate Degree in Business from Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY and a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the University of Oregon.
James R. Mallory
James Mallory is the co-founder and president of Environix, Washington’s leading indoor environmental testing and remediation firm. Launched in 2003, Environix now performs over 1,500 inspections and 300+ cleanup projects each year, with specialized solutions for lead, mold, asbestos, water damage, and IAQ problems. James also founded the nation’s largest mold training and certification organization and teaches indoor environmental concepts to contractors, home inspectors, realtors, and other industry professionals.


Rick Bunzel
Rick Bunzel is a Licensed Home Inspector with 36 years of business experience. He founded Mountain View Property Inspections in Boulder, Co.in 2002 and founded Pacific Crest Inspections in Anacortes in 2005. At last count Rick has inspected over 7,000 properties. He currently consults on large inspection projects and the occasional inspection. Guest Speaker and Lecturer Rick Bunzel has the unique combination of talents that makes him an excellent guest speaker. He is a professional home inspector, and regularly lecturers on Mold, Meth Labs, Air Quality, Marketing and number of other topics.
Mitch Sudy
License #97204, a Bachelors of Science Degree and a MBA. Mr. Sudy served as Faculty, Director of Operations and then National Director of Operations for Home Inspection, Real Estate and Appraisal for ITA/Kaplan. He later held the positions of Executive Director and Campus President from 2010 to 2018 for Kaplan Colleges and Virginia College. As a Board Member and Certification Exam Chair for the California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA) he managed the development of the home inspection industry’s first psychometrically valid/legally defensible certification exam (the CREIA Membership Exam), and later served as a volunteer Subject Matter Expert and Exam Item Writer for the National Home Inspection Exam. Charles Buell
*Presenting Fall 2021 Mr. Buell is owner of Charles Buell Inspections Inc. Charlie is a Washington State Licensed Home Inspector, Washington State Licensed Structural Pest Inspector, and an ASHI Certified Inspector. He served as a Board member on the Washington Department of Licensing Home Inspector Advisory Licensing Board. He currently serves on the ASHI National Technical Review Committee and is on the adjunct faculty at Bellingham Technical College. Charlie has been a frequent presenter at ASHI Washington education seminars.

Mark Cramer
Mark Cramer is home inspection veteran and a FL licensed contractor who has 30+ years of experience performing home inspections, construction progress inspections, commercial building inspections, and insurance inspections. Mark also works as a litigation consultant and expert witness in matters relating to construction defects and home inspector standard of care. Mark has more than five thousand hours of experience training home inspectors in classroom and seminar settings. A long time ASHI member, he was one of the founding members of the Suncoast Chapter of ASHI. He’s held numerous local and National positions within ASHI, serving as chair of several national committees and as National President of ASHI in the year 2000. Mark is a recipient of ASHI’s President’s Award, Ironman Award and Phillip C. Monohan Award.

Don Bender
Don Bender is Weyerhaeuser Professor of Civil Engineering and Director of the Composite Materials & Engineering Center at WSU. He is an expert in testing, design, and construction of timber structures. He teaches university and outreach courses in structural engineering and is active in national building code and standards development. He is a voting member on the NDS national timber design code and consensus standards promulgated by ANSI, ASTM, and NIST.
